The Public Works Supervisor is a dynamic role responsible for both hands-on operations and critical administrative duties, including operating motorized equipment like dump trucks and riding mowers and maintaining compliance for street name and traffic signs. The position requires strategic planning, such as developing a maintenance schedule for city equipment , managing supply inventory , and setting the weekly/monthly work agenda with the city manager.
Additionally, the supervisor is key to long-term financial planning, preparing the annual city budget and capital improvement program request for parks and roads, and must be ready to serve on the front lines by responding to public inquiries and performing emergency-related duties like plowing and preparing an emergency plan for weather events.
